My question is: do the Bosch bushings measure up or should I buy a universal router base plate that has a 1 1/4 inch hole that fits Porter Cable type screw-on. It has a tool-free template guide adapter which requires the separate purchase of Bosch guide bushings. Complete with screws and installation instructions. I recently bought a Bosch 1617EVS router combo kit (fixed and plunge base). Simply install a Porter-Cable style guide, use the centering pin to line-up the base plate concentric to the collet, install your bit, and rest assured your bit is following the path the template or jig intended. This unit is not only pre-drilled for all the routers listed below, it also includes a cleverly designed centering pin that centers the guide to the router collet. Wishing you the best of luck.Frustrated by a router with a base plate that uses a limited range of hard to find guide bushings? Even worse is one that offers no means to center those guides once they are installed. Though you need to buy the Bosch RA1126 Router Templet Guide Adapter to use the set, its still a good value. I have a set from Rockler that fit my Festool adapters with about. OSKOOL 10 pcs Brass Router Template Bushing Guides Sets Fit Any Router Sub-base of the Porter Cable style. Festool made their PC adapters to fit something. My suggestion is to measure components on the pilot diameters until you get a set that fit correctly. But, imitators don't always know that and if they use the threads for location they tend to ignore the adjacent pilot diameters. I believe the original design intent was for the pilot diameter above the thread to be the defining feature for centering, or at least it should have been because threads make for poor location quality. One guy measures the original and makes his product that size, or some facsimile thereof with maybe a few thousands more clearance just in case, and after a few thousand iterations things begin to go awry. The problem is there are any number of folks making adapters and bushings for various routers and applications without any clear 'standard specification'. With over one million products and 24/7 customer service we have. Or conversly, there is interference and the bushings cannot be seated properly.
